BENGALURU: Hundreds of passengers who had pre-booked journeys on Jet Airways for February and March have been left in the lurch with the airlines cancelling over 30 daily services to/from Bengaluru, in view of several of its planes being grounded due to non-payment to lessors.

It’s said that over 34 daily services of Jet Airways to and from Bengaluru, between March 1 and March 30, 2019, have been cancelled by the carrier due to operational reasons. These include daily flights on the Bengaluru-Delhi, Bengaluru-Pune, Vadodara-Bengaluru and Chennai-Bengaluru routes.

Travellers being adjusted on alternative flights

Jet Airways has proactively undertaken certain adjustments to its flight schedule keeping in mind the likely yet interim non-availability of some aircraft in its fleet in the foreseeable future. It is keeping the regulator (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) as well as its guests informed of these changes and is re-accommodating them on alternative flights. Jet Airways regrets the inconvenience caused to its guests

While officials refused to confirm the total number of planes that have been grounded, according to sources, it’s more than 30. The fleet comprises a total of 123 aircraft.

Many passengers are stranded due to non-availability of operating aircraft on these routes, especially Bengaluru-Vadodara. “@jetairways I just got an SMS from your team that 9W319 from Vadodara to Bangalore has been cancelled. This is so foolish. Do you know how important it is for few on those flights to arrive on the same day and time. Have you made any plans to adjust the passengers,” Akhand Bhartiya, a passenger, tweeted.

Several flyers who had scheduled international trips are also peeved with their connecting flight from Bengaluru to Delhi being cancelled. Posting an image of the text message sent by Jet Airways, which read ‘Dear guest, we regret to inform that your flight 9W834 03Mar19 from DEL to BLR is cancelled due to operational reasons’, Atul Raghuvanshi, a passenger wrote on Twitter: “Connecting flights..frm Bangalore to Paris and back frm Budapest all stand cancelled.”

A Jet Airways spokesperson, meanwhile, pointed out that guests of cancelled flights are being adjusted on alters
